We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Design Assistant/ Junior Designer to join our team. This role is part of our talented Design team and reports directly into the Men’s Senior Designer.
Key responsibilities include:
Design & Design Administration
- Perform specific design briefs as directed by the Designers and Creative Director (CD) by researching, preparing boards and arranging samples
- Designing on-brand print artwork and adapting original artwork as needed. Colouring stripes/plaids etc. using Creative Suite. Creating print artwork to be sent to factories.
- Re-colouring, re-scaling and amending prints in Photoshop/Illustrator
- Follow up activity internally and externally to ensure the critical path deadlines are achieved
- Support the Designer and CD in preparation of material for design meetings e.g. fabric, trend and sign off meetings
- Prepare spec packs for all suppliers and liaise with key dedicated contacts
- Provide administration support to the designers, including general housekeeping, filing and maintaining the fabric library
- Compile and manage Style/Fabric Tracker per month
- Diligent and timely Approvals under the guidance of Designers
- Diligent, professional, and timely communication to all factories and mills at sign off time and day to day with email queries
- Adding colour to line drawings using photoshop/illustrator
- Compiling line sheets using Indesign
- Updating sketches after fits/sign off meetings with relevant info
Sourcing/Researching
- Work with the Designers to produce detailed design packs to be sent to suppliers including sketches, photographs, fabrics, trims, artwork, and make and measurement information
- Maintain range boards and follow up to ensure 1st sample schedule is up to date
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure 1st samples are accurate and achieve deadlines
- Track 1st samples and prepare for Product sign-offs
- Order and track fabric sampling and invoices with the Designers and CD
- Manage the fabric/trim library and all samples
- Assist in approval of lab dips and send all relevant information to buying and suppliers
- Liaise with the mills and agents to source sample items that are required by the designer and CD
We are seeking the following attributes:
- Bachelors degree in fashion design
- 2-4 year’s experience in a similar fashion design business
- A portfolio with style aligned to Marcs brand identity
- Tech savvy
- Advantage if familiar with AP21/PLM
- Competent in Adobe Creative Suite
- A genuine interest in trends and fashion brands
- Experience creating print repeats and sending off artwork to factories
- Able to compile CAD line-sheets
